Check out my book, The Caging at Deadwater Manor, in the Thriller, Mystery, and Suspense genre. Also visit my booth at the Goodreads Thriller Author Showcase.

I've written a special post below on the background of the book. It was inspired by true events, and this is why...

Inspired by True Events - The Caging at Deadwater Manor

Over five years ago, I wanted to see if I could write a dark fiction novel. I had just finished my historical time travel and wanted to see if I could branch out into another type of book - push myself. I changed my mind between paranormal and horror until I finally settled on a topic that intrigued me. The idea came after talking with my father about his experiences while working at psychiatric hospitals during short periods of his career. Sometimes, he would come home upset. Other times, sad. He never wanted to talk about it. I remember as a teenager asking my Mom why my Dad was bothered by his job and she only explained that there were girls my age at the hospital who were recovering from drug and alcohol abuse.

Thirty years later, I finally asked him. His findings in the attic of one of the hospitals has haunted me ever since. I can't elaborate on it right now, since I don't want to give away the storyline to my book, but I couldn't shake my emotional response to his recollection. The storyline started to evolve quickly, nagging me daily until I finally finished the story of Jeannie Kynde, an eighteen-year-old locked away at a psychiatric hospital against her will. The story itself is completely fiction, but much of the backdrop to the story is based on what I learned from my dad. The background information enabled me to make the story more realistic. Best of all, it's in her words. You experience the story with her.

My Dad wasn't there to share this monumental event with me. It saddens me, but I know his spirit is with me, proud as always. I hope you enjoy this read. It's not your typical horror/thriller-type book for entertainment purposes only. There's a deep storyline intertwined with Jeannie's experiences, and I'll be curious to hear about your reaction.

Thank you for stopping by today! Hope you all have fun at B2BCyCon!!

Take care, Sandie

I fully understand your wistfulness about your dad not witnessing your success. I have the same sadness regarding my mother.

I'm really glad that you've written the book and made your mark on the world with it.

It sounds like a fascinating story.
