New Book Promotion Image!

Hi everyone!

Still waiting for word on the release date for my new novel.  In the meantime, I've been creating some promotional images.  Here's my latest:
Picture
I created this image on Canva and it was very easy. The window picture was free at the website, and then I just added a few more items. Best of all, the website saves the image for future use or edits. Let me know if you have any suggestions in the comments below.

I'm also looking for beta readers so I will have reviews for the book release. If you're interested in reading the book before it's released and leaving a review, let me know at sandie@sandiewill.com. I'll be setting up an easy form on my webpage that will provide review questions to make the process simpler. I need lots of reviews, so feel free to pass my email to anyone you think might be interested. More to come!

Hope you're all having a fantastic weekend and thanks for your support!

Hello everyone and welcome new subscribers!

It's been another whirlwind week here! Time goes by too fast - doesn't it? Hope everyone had a great week.

Here's the latest on my novels:
  • James Patrick's Ashes Will Fall Virtual Book Launch went off without a hitch last Sunday. He had lots of good supporters who made it fun as well as some great giveaways. I participated with promotions regarding my novel for a half an hour. You can still view the newsfeed, if you like. I ended purchasing Ashes Will Fall, winning a signed copy of a book by Terrence Main (not sure which one yet), as well as a free ebook from J. B. Havens titled, Core of Steel.
  • Last week, I mentioned that my employer featured me in the Employee Newsletter. This week, to my surprise, they also wrote a Facebook post and blog on the book and promoted the trailer. This went to all of their email subscribers too, and the views of my trailer on YouTube went from 132 to 291 views in the last couple of days. I'm very grateful for this and hopefully they will make an announcement once my book is released.
  • The news articles at work have generated quite the interest from my coworkers. Since then, they have shared their ghost sightings, photos from a creepy psych hospital, and information on an old murder that occurred in the woods nearby. The house still stands from the early 1900s, so I plan on visiting it sometime. I'll be bringing more of this to my blog and Facebook posts for sure. Maybe I'll write a future ghost story!
  • Received some initial feedback on the first chapters of my third novel - another psych thriller called, Vision's Edge (this could change). It's even darker than Deadwater.More to come on this one.
  • I'm on several social media outlets! Follow me on Twitter @SandieWillWrite; Facebook Author Sandie Will, Instagram sandie_will, Google+  Sandie Will at Google+ and my website Sandie Will. I'm hoping to get GoodReads set up soon.
Well, that's all the novel news for this edition! I'll let you know as soon as I hear about a release date. In the meantime, I'll keep Novel News coming each weekend.

Take care and have fun!  Sandie

Such an exciting day today! I received notification that my employer made an announcement to all their website followers to see my book trailer. And then, later found out they did a nice post announcing the trailer and blog they wrote on their website. It was nine hours ago, and I've had over 70 views of the book trailer since then. I can't tell you how much it means to have my employer support my new book - The Caging at Deadwater Manor.  What a great way to spread the word!

My First Book Cover Reveal - Blog #3

8/5/2016

Hi everyone - this is a continuation of my blog series titled, "First Book Cover Reveal." I chose to do this so that you can see the posts from this Facebook event in case you weren't able to go and to help other authors. This was a special post to me, because I talk about my dad - the inspiration for the story.

--------------------------------------------------------------
POST #3 - COVER REVEAL FOR THE CAGING AT DEADWATER MANOR

When I was brainstorming for the book, I thought I was going to write a ghost story because I wanted to see if I could write a dark novel. Since my dad used to work at a psych hospital, I asked him if he saw anything strange there. His discovery in the hospital is the basis for the book, hence “Inspired by true events” is on the cover.

He recently died of Alzheimer’s but while he had a lucid moment, I was able to tell him I dedicated the book to him. He became emotional, so he I knew he understood. He’ll never get to see the book in print, but at least I know he knew the book was dedicated to him.

He always wanted me to make sure I tell everyone that the father I wrote about in the book was NOT him!  My dad was a wonderful, caring, funny man who would do anything for us. Here’s a couple pictures of my dad:

I miss him very much - such a good man.

Take care, everyone.  Sandie

Employee Newsletter on My Novel

8/1/2016

This weekend, I announced that my employer was doing a feature on me in the employee newsletter.  I met with one of the communications specialists last week and she interviewed me on everything from why I write to how I got started to information regarding my new novel, The Caging at Deadwater Manor.  Here's the newsletter!

Staff Member to Release First Novel by End of Year - Employee Newsletter - August 1, 2016

Sandie Will, geohydrologic data manager, will publish her first novel this year, The Caging at Deadwater Manor.

At 16 years old, Sandie Will, geohydrologic data manager, set out to pen her first work of fiction – a haunted house story based on her love of horror flicks. Years later, her passion for the paranormal will be printed on the pages of her first published novel, The Caging at Deadwater Manor – a young adult, psychological thriller from Caliburn Press scheduled for release by the end of 2016.

The story, inspired by true events, follows Jeannie Kynde, a 14-year-old girl who’s left in the care of her distraught father after her mother drowns. Four years later, Jeannie’s father eventually turns on her and imprisons her at Deadwater Manor, a psychiatric hospital with a dark past.

The idea for the story came from a conversation that Will had with her father. “This book was inspired by daily routines and a discovery my dad came across while working at a nearby psychiatric hospital here in the Tampa Bay Area,” Will said.

Will’s novel first caught the eye of Caliburn Press two years ago. “I was on vacation when I got the email that they wanted to publish my book,” she said. It was a welcome surprise for Will who had started writing as a creative outlet.

“There’s just this side of me that likes to create something,” she said. “I need to write. I don’t have a choice. I have to get it out.”

Since The Caging at Deadwater Manor was picked up by Caliburn, Will has been busy promoting it on her website, social media, as a guest at book events for various authors, and with her new book trailer. “I’ve become a webmaster and social media expert through marketing the book,” she said. These are skills that Will says aspiring writers need to have along with a dedication to the craft. “Write because you love to write. You have to enjoy it,” she said.
